WOW! This is way overdue, but the holidays and our vacation really kept me away from the computer (which is a good thing)!
We had a great holiday season (minus our entire house getting a really nasty cold that made us tired and cranky) and we capped it off with a week in the Florida Keys – 80 and sunny in January?! YES PLEASE! As a first time mom, the thought of the a FAST walking 1.5 year old in a house with a pool AND on an inlet lead to many sleepless nights, Ava is TOTALLY fearless and proved herself to be as she at any given time would attempt to walk right down the steps into the pool! BUT, we made it through the week and it was so nice to spend time with family! We fished, we ATE ATE ATE, went diving for lobsters, went to a beach wedding, we did it all!
Back up for a second to Christmas morning! We really had a wonderful day. Ava was so excited to get TONS of stuff from Santa and her grandparents (tip: Santa doesn’t need to go crazy for kids under 3, one of Ava’s most used gift is a puzzle from Target and she LOVED playing with the wrapping paper and boxes, no surprise there)!
My parents came in with this ADORABLE and hilarious (also, monogrammed) old fashion car with little bike petals! She did not get out of it all day and insisted on being pushed around while she was steering, such a big girl! It was a total splurge item but I know Ava will have a blast this summer with it outside!
My best friend was able to come by on Christmas night – we were able to get our kids together, it was adorable! As you know, its nearly impossible to get a cute pic with kids as they approach their bedtime but we were able to document it! Ha!
On to our trip to the Keys! All in all, Ava was a TROOPER! Our flight was going smoothly until we landed in Miami and SAT ON THE RUNWAY for 40 minutes – Ava was not thrilled about that. Then she was REALLY not happy when our bags took another 40 minutes to come out! Yikes!
Off to the car rental place that didn’t have a car ready…. OK, we were being tested! About 10 minutes later, we had our car and we were on the road… with our first stop at Alabama Jack’s of course! If you are ever driving to the Keys, a stop at Alabama Jack’s is a must. In another life, I want to live the life where Alabama Jack’s is my local bar! Long story short, it was a tough day, but we made it. Our house was absolutely gorgeous and our weather was fantastic the whole time!
What a great trip it was! And lastly, capped off by Ava and Drew flying in style – Ava is totally in a DADA phase so back of the plane for me!
I hope everyone had a great holiday and I will be more consistent with these posts in 2019 – the end of 2018 was a wild ride!
